The General Directory of Civic Affairs at the Ministry issued a statement confirming that the Gaza Strip’s population has broken the record of two million. The administration confirmed that 4,983 newborns were recorded last month in the Gaza Strip, with 166 born every day and one child born every seven hours.
According to a report published by The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the density of population in the Gaza Strip is among the highest in the world, with 4,661 Palestinians living in one square kilometer.
The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli siege for the last ten years. The majority of Gaza’s population is young and unemployment rates remain very high.
The population of the Gaza Strip has increased by 50,000 since January 2016, as expected by the Ministry.
