CAPE TOWN – A group of pro-Palestinian marchers today descended on Parliament to commemorate the Islamic day of oppression.

The group called for more stringent government intervention regarding the Israel and Palestinian conflict.

A handful of people joined the al-Quds day march on the steps of Parliament.

Waving Palestinian flags, several marchers highlighted the Israeli/Palestinian conflict needed to be addressed urgently.

“The issue of Palestine is a symbol of oppressed people, but [this] was a march which was initiated to support oppressed people across the world.”

The group also called on government to bolster its intervention in the matter.
